On August 26, 2021, Navy Hospital Corpsman and Edison graduate Maxton W. Soviak was killed by a suicide bomber at Kabul Airport in Afganistan. Edison High School, in conjunction with the Soviak family, has been searching for the appropriate way to honor and remember Maxton. Max’s football career began at the age of seven, which continued through his senior year of high school.  While at Edison, Max flourished on the football field. In his high school career, Max was an was instrumental in helping lead the team to the final four playoff games during his junior year and as a captain his senior year. Max was such an integral part of the team and the program that after Max’s passing, his classmate Bryce Ostheimer recommended we paint the number 27 on our grass field at each 27 hashmark honoring the number he wore so proudly as a Charger.

With that said, a plan was put in place to honor Max permanently on the 27th yard lines of the Edison Charger field.
Then, in November 2021 , the Cross Country Mortgage graciously donated $100,000 as a seed for these efforts.  Next, local supporter, Cole’s Energy stepped in with our latest donation of $250,000, to sponsor the new field, Freedom Field.  Cole's is naming the field Freedom Field to reflect what Maxton was doing, helping others find freedom.  In terms of the name, it was important to Cole’s Energy, as well as, us to keep the focus of these renovations on Max and honoring his acts of courage in helping others find Freedom.

We hope to make this a reality for the 2023 Football Season and with your help, there is still time.
While we have many sponsorships in progress, we are still actively reaching out for both commercial/business sponsorships and individual sponsorships.

Please join us in creating this legacy for Max so that his spirit and sacrifice lives on to our future Edison Chargers and guests, at our football field.

The Edison Athletic Boosters, the Edison Local School District, and the Soviak family thank you for your consideration in aiding in this project!

Here's how you can be a part of this legacy...
